This really just clicked with me. 

A trade-off is something to resolve. A finite burden to overcome. 

A tension is a range of desirable equilibria reinforcing themselves. A playful game to flourish.

“A tension is a trade-off plus a conflict.”

Can you explain what this means? When I read the article first I was just confused and did not understand what a tension is supposed to represent. In my mind, a tradeoff is already a conflict in itself that ought to be resolved. What is a tradeoff plus a conflict? 

I only realized what a tension represents after a conversation with somebody who made me realize what this is about.
