This is not true. If you cast outside of a channel, it just goes to your followers. Casting in a channel gives it the potential to be seen by more people.

I think you should keep it this way but add an option to mute posts from a given channel that way even if you follow someone you don’t have to see their toe pics, but also they don’t inherently lose potential toe pic loving fan crossover

i’ve seen 100 casts about toes but havent seen one toe! not that i want to see toes 😂 but my point is that theres no general town square where people can just argue, stumble on things, or joke about silly stuff

There’s For You already (your home feed) and there’s Trending. Town squares are just that, the center of a small community (thus each channel is a town square). When people like musk talk about Twitter being a town square it’s nonsense because everyone is seeing and interacting with mostly different content.

idk where you live but my town is very diverse. its not just ethereum people discussing L2 sequencers, its people introducing each other to different ideas or just shooting the breeze
