It’s interesting to see people describe necessary revolution as accelerationism. Even more so when you think of the historical context. I’m not saying that it’s incorrect to use the term, but that in this context, I would hope we are all accelerationist, much like I would hope we would have all been accelerating toward the overthrow of the aristocracy of France, the dictatorships in Spain and Portugal, or the end of slavery in the imperial core. It’s a very strange notion that just waiting for these things to come to their natural end would have been preferable. This worldview must be aligned to either naïveté, stake in change never coming, or both.

I think another factor in this narrative is that it is being shaped, pushed, and amplified by liberals in the US and Europe who have benefitted immensely from this corrupt and corrupting system. They can turn a blind eye to inequality, the wholesale demotion of the labour class (always antagonistic to them), and even a return to heavy handed violent imperialism in the global south. But they cannot accept redistribution of their wealth nor power. So expect a lot more of this messaging. It’s crucial to the survival of the most bankrolled folks on the planet.

On some level what is happening now is an acceleration towards that end. Not that am celebrating what is happening, but if one is eager for change what is happening is part of that process. It's an opportunity of one is willing to see it that way.
