Feels like if the focus is on "influential" as in had the greatest effect on accelerating humanity as well as propagating itself as a technology, it's a straight up tie between the printing press and the internet.

The printing press allowed for the spread of information in a way that even writing couldn't. It allowed for mass production and distribution. This lead to the spread of religion, the proliferation of wars via propaganda and news, revolutions, constitutions, and eventually capitalism (advertising, printed goods etc)...

One could stop there but, then all of a sudden around the time the internet really took off in the early 2000s, you could see a second explosion of distribution for information of all sorts. Those who never read a book could now watch a video and more so, make one. The internet is the modern printing press.
