Oh yeah. NYT should be avoided like the plague. Even the WP is better and not by much. LA Times for some things. I prefer online exclusives like NPR, Democracy Now, and the Intercept in terms of US outlets. As far as big papers go, there’s not many trustworthy ones anymore. They’re so reliant on sponsorship and endowment that they are incapable of honesty. Canada has no good papers (almost all owned by the same group), CBC is ok but refuses to cover a number of topics and is very pro-Canada. The Tyee is a hit or miss progressive source. Europe has The Guardian and Le Monde which are both ok. The Economist can be good sometimes as can the BBC. But again the issue is these, like the US, and Canada, are built to toe the line for imperialist agendas and their blatant display of this discredits them.

The CBC is also a crown corporation. It operates independently from direct government control, but it is accountable to parliament, which is why it toes the line.
