Hey Canadians proud American here. For some reason my guilty pleasure is watching the Canadian PMQ, Pollievre v Trudeau. Don’t know much about Canada besides what they talk about. How do you guys feel about the carbon taxes? Causing worthwhile economic damage?

The carbon taxes have caused no economic damage. I work in an industry that would hypothetically be affected but it’s not. Here in Quebec we’ve had carbon tax for 15y and we are home to massive industry. Meanwhile the US’ warmongering and abdication of post ww2 accords on refugees wreak havoc for us economically.

And the Trudeau v Poilievre thing is packaged up and sold to American tv outlets. We have a parliamentary system where the leader is just a figurehead and can change at any time. The policy actually matters here and there’s far less stifling of bills like in the US.
