Counterpoint: airdrops are designed to turn users of a product (or users of similar products) into the collective owners of the airdrop-correlated product.
This is intended to be a foil to rich people, or even one single rich person, handily becoming the sole owner of all the tokens.
As these tokens function essentially as plutocratic power, the broader the distribution, the lower the chance of abuse, as it becomes harder to consolidate power.
Additionally, the fewer people who hold, the easier it is to manipulate not only governance but token price.
So it’s far from perfect, but if you eliminate airdrops for users, you should eliminate the token altogether, otherwise it’s pretty well guaranteed bad outcomes. 0 reply
