I grew up poor and paid my own way through university (with the help of student loans). Moving cities twice and just overall being bad with money back then, I racked up a lot of credit card debt. Eventually it became insurmountable and when I hit 30 I decided to figure it out. I learned to budget, got a better job…

That loan was still at a pretty high rate, cause I had bad credit, so in the pandemic I refinanced for a much lower (floating) floating rate and also took a bit more to create an emergency fund and to help family.
