I'm only using Farcaster until Lens gets its shit together.

Would love for you to expand on that thought. I’m very sympathetic to it. Lens V2 really made me more open to the design of that protocol than I had been before. Before it was too focused on chain transactions and nfts which felt excessive. I loved Farcaster’s hub approach more. Especially with the ideas going into the design of Lens V3, I continue to be intrigued. The problem for now is the culture over there is lacking. It’s like Farcaster 9-12 months ago or Zora right now, where people are just farming out shitty crypto-referential content in the hopes of making money. Ultimately network effects are what’s important so I’m of FC because there’s a lot of cool people here. Though I’m sure we share concerns over those guiding the project.

Lens isn't made by a bunch of angry divorced dads who alienate their userbase? And it's actually a web3 app (composable, user-owned profiles, typical custody norms, delegation, etc), and not a "crypto" app that's merely using a web3 audience to bootstrap DAU until they get their Twitter clone right and sell it to a big tech company for $$$$$

Lens is on Polygon POS though, right? Not on ETH ecosystem.

They are migrating to a ZK Sync-based stack with CCIP cross-chain functionality. Here’s some of the announcements https://orb.club/p/0x01-0x02e8 https://orb.club/p/0x01-0x030f-DA-ec3eb5c2

Not an Ethereum rollup... They were pretty clear about still using sidechains. Just an improvement on the current one. Tbh I don't understand the fuss about the pure-theory drawbacks of validiums anyway. They work just fine and don't have a recent history of vulnerabilities. And they're cheap af.

Depends on the use case. Validiums don’t use Ethereum for data available right? So you have to trust whatever the third party is. The issue with Polygon was that it was a very insecure chain overall. Changes made to scale it were poorly considered causing constant chain reorganization. There’s no reason to believe you could be certain to off-ramp tokens and data to Ethereum either. In any case, Lens was using a secondary layer over top of Polygon, called Momoka.

Yea that's what I was gonna say, I don't have an issue with validiums as a concept per se, my concern is/was with Polygon. @thumbsup.eth I don't understand one part: Did they announce where they'd be posting the state with validium? The article linked from that post doesn't seem to mention (or maybe I missed).
