They are the high priests in the religion of the state. You got the robes, the weird rituals, and the unchecked power over your life. You even have the special language to keep the hidden knowledge of the sacred texts secret from the peasants, aka "legalese". Also, when the robes come off, it turns out they are just human sinners like everyone else.

As someone who has personally talked many people from both sides of the aisle into donating money to help homeless people and people in danger of becoming homeless, I can say people are much more willing to give than you would think. If you present it to people correctly, I believe they would contribute voluntarily. If humans were all so greedy that they don't want to help anyone in need, the entire nonprofit/charity sector would be in trouble! Getting these hypothetical voluntary taxpayers to trust that the money would actually go to do good and not to waste or evil would be the challenge, not the willingness to help.

People generally want essential government services and many people want to help the less fortunate, they will fund these things without having to be forced to fund them in a package deal alongside all the waste and violence. IMHO

Well yes, I agree you would need some kind of plan. For example it would probably be a bad idea to end welfare overnight when millions of people are dependent on it. The main point I was trying to make was that a government shutdown isn't a real shutdown. However, at the same time it's still a moral conundrum of sorts when you are harming people to help people. Those important jobs and welfare is still all funded through theft backed up by the threat of violence. Call me crazy, but I believe that if you want to have taxes it should be a voluntary process in which you a) get to decide if and how much to contribute and b) get to have some say in the allocation of said dollars. If you don't want to deal with decision making than you can delegate it to a representative. People will argue that you delegate now by voting for reps, but that only works if your candidate wins, otherwise the majority party is forcing the minority party to delegate tax spending decisions to their candidate.

I would have to disagree. Nihilism rejects morality. Wanting to shut down an organization of evil people that uses their power to kill, imprison, enslave, export, and spy on the people they are supposed to protect is a very moral position. Moral principles should supercede arbitrary authority.

Solv Protocol now wants you to KYC to use their product and turn your WBTC into solvBTC. Gross. Gary Gensler is gone, grow some balls, remove fucking KYC or leave the BTC space and go build a perfume subscription app or whatever the fuck it is KYC people like to do. I would assume I could still use the back end?

I wonder how the healthcare industry reacts when we have an open source medical AI capable of providing better medical advice than any human. Throw in the open source pharm printing machine that's already available and then all you got to do is source ingredients to make your own drugs. Fuck a prescription. Open source home surgery robot anyone? Fuck a hospital. Of course if any of this tech becomes available the governments will go out of their way to suppress it and throw people in jail for trying to bypass the healthcare system with technology. They will justify this by saying we have to save the healthcare jobs.

Well given that DOGE doesn't actually have any legal authority I wouldn't hold your breath. The pentagon can and has "misplaced" billions in taxpayer dollars and nobody cares, it's disgusting.

Exactly, it's mostly just bullshit marketing that they use to push through spending bills that nobody has had time to read with as little negotiations as possible because OMG a shutdown is imminent if we don't pass this right now!!!

Is there anywhere I can borrow USDC at a fixed rate instead of variable? My USDC debt was at 160% apy this morning on marginfi, I'd prefer something more predictable if it exists?

Fuck yes shut that shit down! Oh wait, what do you mean the government doesn't actually shut all the way down during a government shutdown? Talk about getting your hopes up for nothing.

I just can't get down with wireless signals in my ear next to the thinnest part of my skull. Plus using bluetooth can create privacy issues. So I stick to annoying old wired headphones. Hard to lose though.
