July and I had a little exchange about the Golden age of Hip Hop (I will not accept any opinions about the validity of this 😂 ). I'm a late Gen Xer which is clear in my reflection on the other eras and genres I've experienced. My new wave alternative phase (wore a lot of black and hair spray in HS), my rock period (I saw Fleetwood Mac's reunion tour, blessed), big hair and metal (it happened, I'm not proud, but it did), alternative and industrial (like sisters of mercy, Joy Division, NiN) I loved 90's grunge, (so many earrings and yes flannel in Hawaii), my long time love of house, dance, trance, and all the sub genres of electronic (was on the East Coast during the warehouse era, my summer in Ibiza is one of my favorite memories), and even a consistent love of heart wrenching emotional female vocals (tori, sarah, ebtg) ✌️ 😂 . i knew there was a reason we were friends! 🤣 i’m still a music junkie, prob bc im from the era of concert-goers & chainsmokers, hairspray, flannels, combat boots & grunge! i too am a late gen x-er so i had the privilege of seeing many of the tours…nirvana, blind melon, smashing pumpkins, rhcp, pearl jam and the list goes on — went through the grunge phase pretty hard while at the same time i don’t know if i ever spent a full day at school. we made sure we had 1st & 2nd period free so we could surf every morning and of course the last two were also free so we could check out early and head back to the beach & any chance we got we’d hit a concert at night. it was a glorious time! omg — i got a work detail bc i showed up to school after a dawn patrol session w no shoes! i literally had to go to the office and explain why i was barefoot 🤣

That's awesome, I wish I had been in the region for that period, I would have gone to all of those shows. We got Pearl Jam and a few others to come to Hawaii, but not many. Love it.
