I ask Gates, himself a target of some pretty wild conspiracy theories, what he thinks of the decision taken by Zuckerberg after Trump's election to dump fact-checking in the US on his sites. Gates tells me he's not "that impressed" by how governments or private companies are navigating the boundaries between free speech and truth.

What about doing a guided reading of this book over short form video clips? Cool idea?

Guys, have any of you heard of this before. how are over 100k people on a waitlist for a product and this is the first peep I’ve heard. Not to gas myself up but I feel too plugged in for that — so are a lot of you — isn’t this off

on christmas eve, I sat next to a table of 10 ~75 year olds in a starbucks in seoul, and they were happily reminiscing about their elementary school days together I hope my friendships last 65+ years too

I'd love to write (or see someone write) more about this one day. Maintaining idealism at heart and embracing realism in practice is incredibly hard. It's paradoxical. The left's idealism explains most of the intricacies of the left discourse. The obvious one is the constant fragmentation and lost power, but it even explains the hatred against AI & crypto. The way i see it, the path to power requires embracing the paradox. It's not straightforward, but as an example: IMHO leftists should embrace "causing Dems to lose elections". You see a lib accusing the left? Embrace it. "You're, we're too stubborn. We'll always be stubborn. We'll cause more harm. The only way for us to come together is to appeal to me fully". Perhaps not being a genocidal freak and a little more equality might be sufficient, but that's not how negotiations work.
