I see a bunch of concerns about season 6. Note that the locking mechanism is independent from the allowance mechanism. The locking contract doesn't implement any allowance logic i.e. the allowance rules can change just like they always could, so share your thoughts πŸ‘‡

I see less and less reason to think it would be worth it for me to stake any of the 120k degen max that I could have available to play with, unless maybe 10k just to be able to participate in tipping at all this time around Between how willy nilly the whole system changes to things like the amounts of huge selling that could be coming up, the risk-reward doesn't seem aligned to be able to give away 10 bucks a day or whatever allowance I might be able to get https://x.com/mattaaron/status/1811061979227795891?t=Hws_hQ0k6Q3z4L2hTvPNSQ&s=19

And we forgot the focus on why we should tip. And we keep forgetting it can’t last forever. So we have to build a culture for tipping. For paybots. For floaties and airdrops and whatever other cool solutions exist and will be built. Even when we don’t have allowance. For building communities and building value. Just saying

Yes. I love being able to support artists with tips, but everything has a rational limit.

Like when people reslized they had to pay to follow on alfafrens.. That magic internet money doesn’t really exist.. that there has to be a value creation of some kind. At least emotional value like a poap (?) or trading fees, liquidity fees etc. But there has to be a demand.

I'm a bit more cynical about the sybyls that ran amok on AlfaFrens, if only because (1) I guess I understand that you have to pay for things to get things, (2) I think most of them were simply there for maximum short term extractive potential, and (3) I'm amazed to still have 40+ subscribers to my art-focused channel on AlfaFrens, which is more than I ever expected to have before I started (but it's far down from the 450+ at the peak of sybyls running amok) Nothing is free on a long-term horizon, but these extractive players have become quite good at what they do for short-term gains, leaving people with at least slightly stronger moral compunction holding the bags

I think it is a great idea! So I’m not leaving alfa yet. But yeah, you have to pay to get info/alfa anywhere in the world.. and know where to get it. Let’s see how that project goes. And let’s see how tipping goes in the long run. I want to build something that is not based on allowance. But on contribution.

I am really into the underlying streaming mechanic, it doesn't put me off like up-front payment and bonding curves, plus I'm a geek and it's geeky AF I've got at least a couple subscribers on AF for whom I am the only subscription, and they've told me they're there for the art, so I'll keep working on my channel until well after it's too late if the platform tanks to justify their belief in me (or until they all unsub my channel, I guess) Also: if you ever feel the need for some of my rad art in your wallet, hit me up on AF lol (always be closing?) https://warpcast.com/eirrann.eth/0x56835d56

I might πŸ˜€ But there is a flaw to the system there, caused by the alfa staking.. where little goes to the channel owner, unless he/she stakes A LOT to their own channel. And where 5% goes to the team behind (which might be steep? And depending on how they calculate those 5%) So I encourage them to look into this. /alfafrens

I'm a bit confused about how the actual amounts are calculated because there's both the 70/30 and the 70/25/5 numbers, and some weird voodoo about how that works out, but I think I understand the underlying idea behind incentivizing subscribers through the default alfa reward allocations. My take on that, and other thoughts: (1) it gives subscribers a reason to log into the platform daily to claim and stake, helping overall platform retention (2) it gives them an incentive to subscribe to people's channels that they might not otherwise do on something like hypersub where it's purely an outgoing transaction - earning $ALFA is a different calculus - helping individual channel retention (3) the sad reality is that for most creators, if they don't stake on their channel in volume, they probably will never get enough $ALFA staked on it by anyone else (at least until they gain major visibility and traction on the platform) (continued πŸ‘‡)
