I love AI art. It still requires that human spark of an idea to do anything at all. Finesse a prompt just right and you can make magic. But also, I see AI art differently than most people. It's a fusion between machine and human, between a person with an idea, and the collective "memories" that idea triggers as the LLM dreams of what it might mean, pulling from what it learned about humans as it scanned all the data we've put onto the internet for decades. I'm not painting something, I'm teasing out the collective impression of my individual ideas in visual form.

I have found in my own experience that prompting is a skill that needs to be cultivated

I have a gift with words, so I took to it naturally. But I also like to just play with it and see what I can do with it. Shortly after Midjourney 4 came out, when it made a huge leap in photorealism, I did a series on Facebook called Bias and Diversity where I'd take single words like Person and run them 100 times to see what biases were showing in the datasets. The series lasted about a week and got huge engagement. But I also had a Woman and Her Army of Cats set go viral 🤣
