politely yell your thoughts with good intentions. somebody who believes differently will politely yell back. have a polite discussion. try to see other side more than you did at the start. continue on with your day. everything works better when you just do the yelling out loud. even if it’s uncomfortable

It’s the other person being polite that is the problem. I have been involved in way too many “debates” on the internet that turned into people not arguing in good faith but attacking me personally because they don’t agree and then trolling other posts I made even to a stalking degree. It can escalate to dangerous levels, especially if you aren’t anonymous. Some people just have too much anger and frustration and will latch on to others as outlets for it. So it’s not easy to even start a controversial conversation when you don’t know what crazy person might engage with it.

i very much agree that mutual politeness is the factor we are most lacking, but there’s not that much i can personally do about that, so i don’t let it bother me too much. that’s just humanity. on the bright side it makes it easier for polite people to maneuver the world, so hey, i can’t complain
