Stripe allegedly buys Bridge for $1.1B. Huge if true. Venmo: pay with Circle stablecoin USDC PayPal: pay with our stablecoin PYUSD Stripe with Bridge: pay with any stablecoin — and potentially mint your country’s stablecoin https://x.com/trypluid/status/1848065164026745010?s=46&t=rxAVkMPnT_8alZYrwLqp6g

It’s funny how the mainstream has completely written crypto off while it quietly finds PMF and prepares to replace enormous chunks of the global fintech sector

Stripe with Bridge only excites me if I can spend coins from wallet on Stripe customers and not have to onramp into a custodial wallet like Venmo/PayPal to buoy PYUSD market cap. I don't want another walled garden on crypto rails.

And then look at @a16zcrypto 2024 report and takeaway #3 https://a16zcrypto.com/posts/article/state-of-crypto-report-2024/ and this quote “The proliferation of dollar stablecoins — rendered possible by the ubiquity of smartphones and the cryptography of blockchains — could become the greatest experiment in financial empowerment humanity has ever undertaken.”
