this is the "participation inequality" (PI) phenomenon and it exists in every online community EVER studied since early web. the inequality will always exist, but we can design social platforms to dampen or intensify the inequality (eg 80-16-4 vs 95-3-2). worst PI: X, ig, tiktok better PI: reddit, discord, linkedin

kinda difficult to break the power law i guess. Its true even offline - no of folks who ask questions after a talk for e.g. or even listen to the talk actively... Bullish on small sub communities hence - engaged, dense, active like hell..

same, altho the current user experience of warpcast is much closer to twitter (global) than to discord/reddit (small community) for small sub communities to grow here, WC needs major improvements to start, it could show more high-quality non-crypto channel content, casts from less active but high-quality users wdyt?

That would be great 😊 although I just cringe on high-quality user term which is not solved problem and it’s not a constant fact either

100%. Sub communities form around a common cause or sth you relate with. Channels are to that end a start but their discovery is still kinda poor. ML stack added to feeds recently could probably help with that / better channel indexing + search.
