agree it could be argued but in the context of his recent tweets there's heavy subtext wrt understanding how people really think - do you think an elon musk poll on x is an accurate representation of what people think? (genuine question)

it is an accurate representation of what the 540,0000 people who voted think, not representative of everyone in America full disclosure: i’m down the free speech rabbithole reading “Canceling of the America Mind” and everything from FIRE, a free speech org so i’m inclined to interpret it through that lens

i'm just trying to decide for myself if the 540k people (using an extremely liberal definition of person) that participated in this elon musk poll teaches us anything useful about the public's opinion on the topic and whether that is worth the potential harm that a tweet like that can do also understand your perspective. i tried to choose my wording in the original cast very carefully. i think musk is within his rights to post something like that, but with a platform like his he bears a lot of social responsibility which i don't think he's taking seriously by doing what he's doing
