unfollowing all the accounts that are automatic cross posts from X, I’m not here to consume content like some brainless zombie from people who can’t be bothered to use farcaster

as a user i also value genuine engagement but as a founder in the ecosystem i value growth my POV is that it’s net positive for FC growth because it’s a good signal for new users (who aren’t accustomed to farcaster culture of genuine engagement/convos) that those accounts are casting here seems good for devs?

is it actually good for growth tho? if I scraped and reposted luma events on eventcaster then that would be "growth", but not the kind of growth I want. I get that it makes the new user experience more rich, but if users can get the same content on twitter plus a lot more, and they don't already feel bought into the culture, why would they stick around? Open to being wrong and maybe I'm not the target user, but this alongside with the power badge removal makes my experience on here worse, because it makes me question whether a cast or account is someone I should respond to.

growth = acquiring new users, retention = having them stick around your second paragraph is question about retention, not growth - right? given power law, 1% post, 9% engage/reply, 90% lurk. you're describing a worse experience for the 1% and 9%, but not for the 90% (which is what a new user typically is)

none of what you said refutes the points I made if new users can just see the same content on twitter plus more, why would they stay here?

you initially asked if it was good for growth, not if it was good for retention, so i offered an explanation for why it would be good for growth. if you want to talk retention, then let's talk retention!! i share your concerns on whether this will result in better retention (but $5 / day may help, too early to tell)

my point was that all growth is not necessarily good growth. if it spurs more interesting convos then maybe, but anecdotally I haven't seen much of that.
