why do we (society) obsess over and often hate tech billionaires but don’t bat an eye at music billionaires (taylor swift, jay Z), sports billionaires (magic johnson, lebron), or entertainment billionaires (george lucas,  tyler perry)?

i think only one tech billionaire uses the phrase ‘woke mind virus’, and this cast isn’t about him specifically but about successful tech entrepreneurs generally. 

is this how you feel about all tech billionaires? if yes, i’m surprised. i would’ve expected something more sociologically nuanced and insightful

okay so they’re hated because they want to disrupt existing institutions and are obsessed with society in a way that all other billionaires aren’t? that’s fair.
