why do we (society) obsess over and often hate tech billionaires but don’t bat an eye at music billionaires (taylor swift, jay Z), sports billionaires (magic johnson, lebron), or entertainment billionaires (george lucas,  tyler perry)?

Taylor swift, jay z, magic johnson, Lebron, George Lucas, and Tyler perry aren’t trying to reform society in their own images and don’t use phrases like ‘woke mind virus’

i think only one tech billionaire uses the phrase ‘woke mind virus’, and this cast isn’t about him specifically but about successful tech entrepreneurs generally. 

is this how you feel about all tech billionaires? if yes, i’m surprised. i would’ve expected something more sociologically nuanced and insightful

Elon is the most direct, but Peter thiel, balaji, Garry tan have expressed similar sentiments, one of the entire premises behind network states is that parallel institutions are needed because present ones are woke-captured 

Without litigating those sentiments, tech billionaires are equally obsessed with society
