agree but his message still stands:

if we believe in the future that everyone will be interacting with crypto behind the scenes, then we to continue recruiting better product designers or we’re going to be left with the piece-of-junk-looking products

the UX has gotten much better since 2019-2021 though

You just can't get another steve in this century im afraid

but looking forward to many mini-steves building on crypto

i do think we’d have better designed products (not just UX), but design is only one part of it.

there definitely are exceptionally talented founders and people who work in crypto but crypto, in general, has a hard time attracting top talent bc as Balaji says its low status and highest risk (regulations, volatility)

What evidence would there be that we did have enough designers? Just the results themselves? I’d argue crypto poached a ton of the top tier talent last cycle and it didn’t seem to make the biggest difference. Isn’t half of Airbnb’s design team at Coinbase rn?

exactly this, not also just the designers to get into crypto but also for devs and founders to invest the time into it
