i believe we’re at a similar place today with crypto

and while we may have a few cult personality founders, none of them match steve’s definite optimism, appreciation for great design or capacity to inspire

What evidence would there be that we did have enough designers? Just the results themselves? I’d argue crypto poached a ton of the top tier talent last cycle and it didn’t seem to make the biggest difference. Isn’t half of Airbnb’s design team at Coinbase rn?

i do think we’d have better designed products (not just UX), but design is only one part of it.

there definitely are exceptionally talented founders and people who work in crypto but crypto, in general, has a hard time attracting top talent bc as Balaji says its low status and highest risk (regulations, volatility)
