“The will of The Venezuelan people must be respected” implies that there is danger to it being respected. Maduro’s “victory” is the logical understanding of that danger— because if it represented “respect” then there would be no need to say anything. I conclude that Gemini’s summary is faithful.

It seems like the statement could be read either way. You're not implying the US has any interest in upholding Maduro's supposed victory, are you?
