I have a question related to the female gender and my work. Every time a customer can't find my car in a large, crowded parking lot, she calls me. She can't see me, but she's walking in my direction. I see her, making sure she's wearing her clothes. So here's the question. Why, when I tell her to go straight, that is, in my direction, she stops abruptly, turns on all four sides and goes in the other direction, and then starts spinning like a yule. What's that effect? I told you to keep walking straight and not turn around. It's a bit of a struggle to get it to stop spinning in the right direction.... #life #history #interesting

Astronomy Picture of the Day (The Spider and the Fly) Will the spider ever catch the fly? Not if both are large emission nebulas toward the constellation of the Charioteer (Auriga). The spider-shaped gas cloud in the image center is actually an emission nebula labelled IC 417, while the smaller fly-shaped cloud on the left is dubbed NGC 1931 and is both an emission nebula and a reflection nebula. About 10,000 light-years distant, both nebulas harbor young star clusters. For scale, the more compact NGC 1931 (Fly) is about 10 light-years across. The featured deep image, captured over 20 hours during late January in Berkshire UK, also shows more diffuse and red-glowing interstellar gas and dust. A question for the office plankton. How do you sit for 8 hours in the office? I am a talented and capable girl, but I can't sit so much at work. All the work that I have, I can do literally in 3 hours and then I sit and suffer on the chair. It's hard for me, I whine, I don't have enough lunch breaks to rest. My bosses make remarks and try to cram work in, but I get it done in 3 hours too and then I sit there decomposing again. Fuck knows what to do about it and how to make a living if my max is 3 hours of work a day. #life #history #interesting

Lord of the Flies A bunch of boys stranded on an island descend into absolute savagery. I remember liking this in middle school, but low key dismissing it as trite assigned reading slop. Wowow this time it knocked me out. It has the character and feeling of timeless mythology, but from a modern perspective. It’s extremely misanthropic, and the only sympathetic characters are proxies for civilization and reason. It makes a convincing case that we should not take the cultural and system-level checks on human nature for granted. Watching Ralph lose his grip on the situation is more relatable as a dad of three boys. Watching Jack become a cruel tyrant is more plausible for the same reason. The symbols, like the conch and glasses, fit naturally into the story but they’re also clear enough that you don’t need to be let in on the secret. And the prose is good, too, which never hurts. Five stars by any standard. A timeless, unmissable classic.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to code this is my first algorithm with p5js with a slight help of ai. Each attempt at a trick another line gets added, slowly forming a radius to perfectly match up a quarterpipe. 259 attempts for this fakie inward heel tail pop to front nose revert 😅 3 different sessions.

Been thinking about how wrong certain founder advice is in certain situations. Realized you can probably build A business following all YC advice all the time, but not an outlier business.
