Sifted my compost with this sifter I built.  1/4" squares are best grate size that I've found.    I also use it to sift wood chips for composting or laying on spots as a cover.  Anybody else do this?

The sifter has saved me a ton of time and gets the particles to the exact size I need ..filters out all the large matter and just leaves the soil.  They're very easy to make...highly recommend building one that is roughly the size of the bin you'll be sifting the compost into.

Yup, typically take the time to rotate my compost and turn it into a new bin.

Does the stuff that doesn’t make it through the sift just go back into the compost?

I do this with potting soil and compost for containers. Same mesh size - works really well for me.

Yep, definitely soft loads of stuff. Use several trades depending on what I'm doing 1" for biochar-, 1/4" for topdressing or even smaller if I want some really fine stuff. Nice rig🤝 1 $DEGEN

I’m just getting my compost set up again. I have not tried this before but it seems like a good idea.
