The big question is, will the NDP and Liberals form a coalition to take majority. Without Singh as leader and with, otherwise, no official party status, it would make a lot of sense.

Perfectly primed for a coalition. Lib + NDP would be a majority that Cons + BQ couldn’t block, even with greens. Meanwhile Lib minority would be at risk of a consorted effort by all parties to block.

While I don't fully understand how a multi-party system works because 'murican... Is this a good or bad thing for Canada?

I strongly prefer minority governments. Especially where the balance of power is held by NDP. The liberals and conservatives can and do work together to pass bills (usually ones which fuck workers). A majority, is similarly, less beholden to anyone but donors. 

That said because the conservative and Bloc Québécois oppositions are big it would be benefiting to have either a majority or to coalition with NDP to avoid vote of no confidence, which would force another election
