This is a great history of the digital age if technology makes your heart sing — it starts with Babbage & Ada Lovelace, covers the invention of the computer, transistor, microchip, the internet, personal computer, software, and ends with the web up to and including Google. Terrific writing by Walter Isaacson too.

I enjoyed it. I'm no expert on the advent of computers, so was a good overview for someone like me. Not sure if it offers anything new if you're already an expert on the topic. Actually got to interview Isaacson about it for an article ahead of a talk he was giving in my city; got him to sign my copy when he was here.

It was so long ago and was just for the daily newspaper I worked for at the time. I did a quick search to see if it would pop up, but no luck. Not that you doubt me, but here’s the sticky w/ his cell phone number (and some doodles lol) I keep on my bulletin board as a reminder!

That’s a cool souvenir! Never doubted you of course, was just curious about Walter Isaacson — I only know him through his writing (which I find terrific!), but know nothing about the man himself. Just saw yesterday that there’s a new Lex Fridman podcast with him, so might have a listen and attempt to remedy that.
