Honestly disagree w this pretty hard. 

The amount of people who use the internet for their livelihood and are never gonna think about code ever is trending up rather than down imo. 

I think AI supported code generation is the bandaid before AI just…

In fact there was a HN thread just today about how increasing levels of abstraction are causing new workforce entrants to miss out on acquiring the underlying knowledge — of the lower-level languages, of the network layer, of the CPU, etc.

AI-generated code might just accelerate that trend.

this only works for building things that aren't novel, otherwise you'll encounter issues you can't solve without understanding lower-level at least somewhat.

which means that the biggest impact will still come from those who understand things more holistically.

I suppose some people might think "uber for ____" is novel, but I think "novel" better describes the first Uber, the first Instagram, Amazon, SpaceX, the first Netflix, the first Shopify, Tesla, etc.

The first in a field often needs to do quite a bit of novel infra & UX work, which is then easy for followers to copy.

I mean - sorta depends on what kind of novel right? There’s lots of things that don’t exist that are just replumbing what we already know

But overall the “who’s gonna change thing the most?” discussion is a separate one than the cast that started this 😈
