It's incredible watching Consensys throw away its lead with Metamask. Why doesn't @ethereumjoseph step in and make use of this incredible asset, whose market position is eroded by Coinbase, Phantom, etc more every day? 

behind the scenes is that metamask is an enormous cash cow and is working on a new UI so its not going that bad

also it’s much harder to move forward a product with 50m users and very high security requirements than to build one from scratch and ride a huge wave of liquidity from a new ecosystem (like phantom did)

getting big early in their case was a bad thing yeah

soon we’ll have mainstream account abstraction wallets, session keys and more which will make metamask obsolete pretty much for all of new users and some of the existing
