Would you rather… @ponder sponsored poll. 3 best answers get 5 $OP ($7.5) each. https://frame.weponder.io/api/questions/fa0cb2ad-e551-49d6-b406-a47c995f665c

Answered the poll, but will share here too: I'd prefer 1/1 because that sets a value expectation of my work and would make it easier to justify a decent price for future work. It's a lot easier to find 1 person than 1000 people to buy your work, too, if you aren't an influencer already.

I understand the value proposition you're describing but at the end of the day, you're getting the exact same amount in your wallet, isn't it? Or is there an element of prestige attached to higher price point? Put aside the finding part & let's assume there is 1 collector willing to offer $1K and there are also 1000 collectors lined up to offer $1, would you still go for the 1/1?

In a hypothetical world where it's just as likely to get 1000 people committed to buying for $1 as one person for $1k then yeah it doesn't make a difference. But I've been in this market and social media environment long enough to know that it's incredibly hard to get to the level of renown that you have 1000 people lined up to buy your work for any price, even free. I have had people buy my work for more than $1k but that was after years of working up a floor price and enough reach to connect with collectors that saw that value in my work. I've never sold more than 300 editions of a single work, and in most cases it was tough to sell out 10 editions. It's all about your reach and getting your work in front of people who connect with it and reach is all about how popular you are in social media or good at marketing. So if you are more focused on being an artist than a personality or marketer, it's much more practical to try to find fewer "true fans" who will pay more for your limited work, IMO.
