I didn’t know it at the time but apparently someone shared my blog post about Zed on HackerNews. Just reading through the comments today and came across this beauty; glad they’re happy writing 10 LOC a day because I know I wouldn’t be lol

One key piece they missed is that my statement was in reference to learning Vim and its keybindings. It’s true that you may not “write” or “create” a vast amount of new code, but being able to edit code quickly is what Vim/Neovim/Vim Mode is built for.

When I first used zed I imagined a world where every piece of software was that performant. I still don’t understand the magic. Is it partially Rust and partially great engineering?

I stumbled upon this post organically when I was switching to zed recently, was on the first page of search results for me!

the problem with keyboard maximalism is how painful it makes watching other people work. i would probably go insane if i had to watch this guy write his 10 LOC 😂

I agree with the comment. I have never ever been bottlenecked by my typing speed. My process is think of solution>implement>see why it doesnt work>iterate and no part of this is meaningfully impacted by my typing. What does help are knowing how to use sublime text shortcuts/macros efficiently
