As an elder millennial, I’m genuinely perplexed by Gen Alpha fashion. Why are so many kids dressed like a Handmaid or Amish farmer? And rocking iPod Nanos? Are we just… fully ironic now? Fashion. People. What’s up?!

i'm literally drafting an article about this right now idk if it's irony per say or more of a harkening back to times that felt more stable and slow also the trends towards "old money", "quiet luxury", "cottagecore", "tradwife" style are all signifiers of a slip back towards conservative values + fast fashion allows people to try on and discard personas as they wish (essentially cosplaying), instead of figuring out how to express their own unique personality

Piggybacking on this: I've been thinking about how skinny jeans remain a punk closet staple. Some people think it's a clear indicator of a millennial, but depending on how they're styled, they will always be worn by rockers (probably). I love that people "try on" different styles, but hopefully some will resonate
