I am a half decent content creator, but I think one of the worst things these sites did was force everyone to become one, too I saw a doctor post on X about the process a patient went through to get cancer medication her insurer tried really hard to deny. One of the steps was social media shaming the insurer. I was so taken aback by that. What if you donât have an audience, arenât worth listening to? Arenât a âcreatorâ? I tried to make this point and the doctor replied to me âyou can ask your doctor to help with the social media shamingâ and I wanted to throw myself off a cliff. Bleak. Conspiring with your oncologist for likes and shares to get medicine. Anyway, yeah, I wish they didnât exist either.

yikes. I had a short story/Black Mirror episode idea for a universe where healthcare is dependent on your social media campaign for yourself. the idea stemmed from seeing so many GoFundMe campaigns for health care in the US - obviously we're not far off đŹ

People exploit what they value and defend what they love! Are you worth loving? Are you worth defending? How many likes did that post get?
