Yeh but he told anybody who’d listen how smart he was and would fix it, quickly. The height of hubris is being amazing at thing X (he’s an incredible mechanical engineering visionary) and just assuming you’ll also be amazing at thing Y without any struggles or learning curve.

I don’t think he just assumed he would be amazing at it, but I do think he assumed he could do it better than the old management team. And after reading these twitter files, I completely agree. And his willingness to go back on his decisions suggests he recognizes the learning curve.
