If their core federation server is down then these clients can’t fetch from there unless it’s cached as far as I understood without much research

There is only one relay right now but it’s possible to run your own. It’s kinda similar to indexing farcaster data from hubs https://bsky.app/profile/btk.sh/post/3la52lzhfzy2t

Also auth is handled by your Personal Data Server which you can self host, so if Bluesky goes down and your data provider is not bluesky else can still auth into other apps with their equivalent of sign in with farcaster
