is there a reason why "show more" can't just expand the cast in the feed instead of sending me to the detail view?

Ik Twitter does this and it’s really annoying

It’s way faster to ship the nested view. 

Managing dynamic item height in a FlashList in React Native would require a lot of custom work.

i was actually referring to long casts but this is also really annoying lol

I've been struggling with this, especially when looking for the latest cast on that long counting thread on /count

oh hey – planting a niche feature request: on a long cast when there's a "...see more", make it expand inline if i tap 'see more' instead of the view change.

sounds dumb but i churn a lot on twitter because of this.

If I understand correctly:

Inline show more: a troll can put a ton of new lines in their cast and you're forced to scroll down to get past it all

Navigated show more: if somebody pulls this stunt you just press back on your phone or browser and you're out of it immediately, not forced to scroll thru it

Here's an excellent example of why you're correct that is a bad UX: the thread is done via replies to replies, so as you click show more on each reply you've started reading, you accumulate a history you have to back out of multiple times to actually get back to Home: https://warpcast.com/leeknowlton.eth/0xebd2f9b8

It would be so much smoother if "show more" just expanded in the feed. 

Having to switch views can be a bit annoying. Hope they consider this tweak! 🤞📱
