The openai being bad at naming models thing used to be quirky but it’s reached the point where as someone that actually follows frontier model development I have no idea what model is what anymore

it’s crazy. the top 2 models they have are 4o and o4 ☠️ and i literally have no idea what the difference between them is anymore.

it's quite confusing for anyone who is just a regular consumer. so many of my friends have a bad experience with chatgpt and i'm like what model did you use and they don't even realize there is a concept of different models etc., let alone which one to use

I was up to date until gpt4 series started getting updates

I'm waiting for the numbers to go negative
