It’s 10x easier (still hard) to build a Warpcast level FC client than it was 4 years ago

- Farcaster exists
- Hubs exists
- SIWF exists
- Neynar exists
- 10s of thousands of potential daily users exist plus more people onboarding all the time

Building @warpcast and @farcaster, new dad, like making food

It’s not hard at all to build a simple client for 100 users if you use neynar (my lukewarm take is that it’s actually easy)

Warpcast level i.e. performant real-time algo feed, Apple Pay onboarding, cross platform, direct messages, warps, polish, etc) is too much for hobbyists imo and ROI is unclear for companies

Being able to easily build a social app for a hundred users on top of farcaster is a great achievement btw

We need high usage of multiple vanilla warpcast style clients for the decentralisation to actually matter

It’s no use everyone uses warpcast because then warpcast has the power to essentially deplatform users and we’re back to square one in terms of censorship resistance and ownership of your audience

why would anyone want to build another warpcast-style client tho?

agreed! still hard and expensive but much less so than starting from nothing

Cool, but why should people try to build another client? Also in alternative clients, does the casts still persist?
