I am optimistic because I've always believed we'll come out the other side of the Singularity in the long run and technology will save us.

I'm pessimistic because I don't know I will live long enough to see that future, and there are so many greedy people who want to hold on to power that may destroy us first.

cautiously realistic and vacillating between both:

pessimism: ai-military with drone warfare, increasingly we will see robots doing the killing of humans, dictatorships getting access to Ai military weapons is scary 

optimism: we increasingly have access to advanced tools to create more freedom
