Just the other day I was prompted on my TikTok to add to a conversation on Anime villains: Anime villains we hate to love.

It made me think which villains were my favorites and why. Turns out after looking at all of them the commonality between them is easy to discover: with all of the nine I picked the author(s) took the time to explain where the characters frustrations and pain are coming from.

I wish in our world we would take more time to understand where others are coming from. I know it doesn’t excuse bad behavior but it makes it so we can focus less on the noise and more on collective problem solving.

So first of all, I just realized it is only 8, and a good bunch of them are from the Sailor Moon Mangas, but it is because the author Naoko Takeuchi just had an incredible hand at making you feel for the "bad" characters. Here goes nothing 😊 :
