Am I the only one who feels a bit sad reading takes like "yeah, proxystudio made a big mistake in the past, but they were really good to me / my project / the ecosystem"? Feels like people are literally putting personal gain above the harm done to others.

i mean i do feel really sad about proxy’s past but before i knew anything my interactions with him felt genuine and kind. they helped me shift perspective and move forward in some ways. now that i’m aware of what happened, it doesn’t undo the harm but it also doesn’t erase the human connection i experienced. it’s complicated. humans are complicated.

Yeah, it is understandable that lots of people had a positive interaction and it does not erase this experience. I'm also speaking from the perspective of someone who hasn’t experienced anything good or bad from them, and it feels like many people are reducing it to a simple equation: 1 bad thing (to Velodrome) + many good things for Farcaster = net positive. But usually, people make up for past harm through some form of redemption - not just by getting a second chance to start over. Do you think he could come back - as Proxy and a Clanker contributor?

fwiw i felt the same until i woke up one day to find him having drained all our money and putting a massive target on my back. he presented as “kind” as the investigation was going and i was sicker than I’ve ever been in my life close to being hospitalized! it was all a facade. it was all a lie.
