Don‘t waste time/money shipping an iOS app. If your app has a strong viral mechanic (earn money, or fun component), it makes no sense to ship a polished iOS app. I.e., a trading app differentiates itself through growth/opportunity, not it‘s beautiful UI. A PWA is faster to ship and has same potential to onboard.

Yes, but they were not looking for a greenfield PMF - the business model was clear, so it's polished execution (and 0% trading fees) that makes the difference. Most startups are different - theyre trying to build something very new, and if the core value prop is good enough, people will tolerate imperfect UI.
