Remember L3s? That meta was almost as bad as TEEs earlier this year

It’s not really used for security tho. They’re going to be used for speeding up transactions with pre confirmations

What’s the purpose if not security / shielding using the trusted enclave? Could you share any resources — I am out of the loop on this

Well it’s still security, in the form of tamper evidence and transaction ordering. But from what I can tell atm it’s still the same trust assumptions we currently have with L2 sequencers. I’ll be honest I’m a bit out of the loop too. I’ve had one of my solutions engineers doing some research on it but I’m not sure what is public. You can take a look at Unichain’s flashblocks, Flashbots’ rollup boost, and Worldchains priority block space for humans blog posts. If you’re really interested in asking the folks who are close to it, I can invite you to Optimism’s R&D server

Really appreciate the offer, but shouldn't devote too much time to this (mostly just curiosity downstream of shitposting) I just worry about using complex hardware as a replacement for software we don't have yet -- it creates more systemic risk even if the product offering is improved now
