How would you live your life after you become convinced that in 5, maybe 10 years AI will probably cause humanity's extinction? Some ppl accept the doom, using typical terror management strategies, like with any other existential crisis. Others feel deeply hurt, angry, and ready to fight the business, tech, and political elites they blame for the AI race. Here are two contrasting examples.

It's important to remember that humanity has survived 3 generations of having the ability to nuke itself. It has survived 80 generations of apocalyptic Christianity where each generation has individuals and groups convinced they are the tools to make it happen. We can't predict when or how or if it will happen, but our own biological studies show us that we should evolve into something else if we don't destroy ourselves. Hope as a constituent of consciousness, and as such an emergent property of our evolution is powerful, and if there is enough of it transmitted through our consciousness we may be able to keep the world eaters at bay.

Also, iirc humanity has seen 1 million people die on a battlefield and after an earthquake. Not saying it won't be a bumpy ride. It is a testament to human progress and the power of hope that we live in a time and places where we have the entitlement to view life not as a constant struggle for survival, but rather a given that we should have it and that we may screw it up. Most humans have lived where death is a constant companion, at least I think so. Doom is a mindset that achieves nothing but anxiety or giving up. I spend a lot of time in that mindset, but getting engaged, even if just in trying to achieve hope is imo our best shot.
