"Have the child. Practice the religion. Found the school. Support the local theater, the museum, the opera or concert hall, even if you can see it all on YouTube. Pick up the paintbrush, the ball, the instrument. Learn the language — even if there’s an app for it. Learn to drive, even if you think soon Waymo or Tesla will drive for you. Put up headstones, don’t just burn your dead. Sit with the child, open the book, and read. As the bottleneck tightens, all survival will depend on heeding once again the ancient admonition: I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live." https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/19/opinion/extinction-technology-culture.html?unlocked_article_code=1.D08.mz78.pyr2YYMNwcRT&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

I'm seeing more of this kind of stuff, and while we'll written I think it's putting the cart in front of the horse. The Extinction is, imo, a result of the Industrial Era. We don't wax poetic about why the Bees are dying, or polar bears, or the oceans. Blaming the internet and Machine Intelligence misses the fact that (BIG IF) if we can fix energy crisis, these machines might be our best/only hope to turn this mess around.
