I just heard someone say in a debate: "The left is for the rainbow coalition of chronic victimhood seekers who think someone else should solve all their problems, whereas the right is for people who stand on their own two legs, take responsibility, and try to solve their problems on their own." Makes sense!

That’s a pretty extreme generalization.

It’s a generalization for sure! But it kinda makes sense when you think left is the one always wants a bigger government and the government to solve most of their problems. Right mostly want less government intervention in their lives.

But polling doesn’t show that anymore. Republican voters want more government intervention not less. https://www.deseret.com/politics/2024/05/14/poll-republican-voters-want-bigger-government-but-party-elites-want-welfare-cuts/#:~:text=Well%20over%20half%20of%20Republicans,like%20it%20to%20do%20less.

I would also highlight that one of the GOP's biggest election campaigns has been around how they plan to reduce the overreach of federal agencies, effectively reducing the "government intervention" in citizens' lives. That is one of the pillars of their campaigns, so that aligns with the general right ideology. But the poll is interesting too!

i mean, it’s a lie—they’re literally inserting the government between women and their bodies. they are, branding aside, not the party of freedom. let freedom = more ability to live how you want. current maga craze is dictating how others live. libertarianism is all but dead in the party.
