Still trying to develop a thesis around the new Zora update and “content coins,” but I find it very off-putting that so many people are all-in on this shift with no coherent thesis of their own.

Here’s my thesis: 

1. Content is valuable 
2. The internet has a value capture problem
3. Crypto and open markets solve that problem 

The net result is an internet that now has free information and value capture for producers, distributors and consumers of information.

the compensation model incentivizes artists to create works that people want to trade, which as things stands means rewarding whoever provokes the most speculative frenzy. granted, this was true of NFTs too, but "cointent" leans into the greater fool theory of funding media production
