also if it stopped playing when it's out of the frame, so i don't have to scroll 100 casts down just to get the audio to stop

In a heterogene scenario like the Farcaster feed, it’s better UX to start a video muted. As a user you don’t know if the video has audio when you click on it and given the situation it might be unpleasant if it does. This is different from YouTube or Vimeo where you expect most videos to have an audio track.
