I actually like the storage model where everything is an account. Makes it pretty easy to pick up. Haven't written any programs yet though. 

The RPCs don't feel as robust. Using Helius, but calls are slower than on an EVM and have random failures from time to time so have to account for that.

Indexing is a huge pain because of the insane amount of transactions (good problem for the network). Took me about a week to build a token indexer that can even stay at head. Storage, and in turn costs, grow pretty quickly though.

Need to index myself because no good APIs available for consumer-oriented general-purpose token data. 

Before I even started the exploration, had so many EVM people telling me how much it sucks. And overall, it's honestly not bad at all. Most of the people talking negatively about Solana dev either (1) have never actually built anything there or (2) weren't around for EVM dev when it was the same age as Solana.

I’d say there is a fair argument to make for going the Solana route for some use cases, especially liquid market buy-in these days, but ultimately there’s very few builders that build a real product people want & talk to users, other stakeholders and make them care & support you.

It will matter much more how you build the product, how you distribute it (btw this applies to memes too: farcaster x base founders often ignore a tg price chat & onboarding tw trenches) and not if you’re building your mvp on Base or Solana.

Long-run it will def make a difference as it takes away focus from the product & supporters may wonder/worry what’s the master plan, whether it makes sense to offer you help or stay loyal.

Imo if you are on either sol or base (most used networks rn from liquidity/volumes pov) you have more than enough users to try and get pmf

If you don't get enough users in one, moving to the other won't change much imo, but it's ok to try one or the other

@surfcoderepeat He's been good in a) chasing hot things b) drawing attention. imo he's got a feel for the market &amp; does well as influencer(-founder) but product execution requires more conviction &amp; building with/for the user than attention, moves for short-term buy-in that distract from product.
